KeraWax 4600 Paraffin Pillar Wax
[TCDL-CWAX-BKER-N4600-CPPP] - Reviews
Well KeraWax is a leading brand so I expected it to be top quality. I bought this to compare to another wax I use in my own blend, to make wax melts. Generally, this 4600 melts quickly and water-clear. On its own 4600 isn't suitable for melts made in silicone moulds. You need to get it to above 90 deg to pour without risking tiny bubbles from rapid cooling. Also, it sinks a lot and has high transparency so looks quite milky when set. I tested addition of 4% Vybar but still had tiny bubbles if poured below 90. As a replacement for another wax in my blend, 4600 works very well. Combined with KeraWax 4105 50/50, with 4% Vybar, results in a nice gloss finish with no sinkage on the rear (snap bars). The finish is a little softer than my regular blend, and I'll test with 5% Vybar at some point, but otherwise is a fair compromise to get the gloss finish without using a pillar blend with Stearin already in it. Overall, I'm very happy with this wax for my purposes. I can't comment as a pillar wax because I don't make pillar candles, but if I did, I would try this wax first.
