Orders To EU after 1st Jan 2021
Following the UK’s departure from the EU, there has been a lot of change for businesses like Cosy Owl and we have worked hard with our partners to ensure there are no delays or unexpected costs for our customers when shipping into the European Union.
The biggest changes that affect our overseas customers are:
· How to claim back VAT/TVA
· EORI numbers
· Prohibited goods
· HS codes
· Minimum order values
We do advise all customers read the information within this page before ordering, to better understand current processes and limitations and what action needs to be taken if you are affected by any of the above.
For non-VAT registered customers in France, Belgium, Germany and Netherlands
The price you pay on the website will be the total price paid – your order can be placed through the website and will not incur any additional customs fees, sales tax, duty or admin fees when your goods enter Europe - Cosy Owl pay these upfront on your behalf.
For our customers in EU nations not present on the website
We are delighted to confirm we are able to ship to our customers in all EU nations and the process for this slightly differs to the above. Please contact a member of the sales team by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can create a Cosy Owl account for you and take you through the process of placing your orders. Orders to these nations will be placed exclusive of sales tax and you will be contacted by the courier directly to pay this when goods enter Europe.
How to claim back VAT/TVA
If you are a tax registered business, we can now remove the sales tax from your orders at the point of sale. You will be charged for the tax and customs clearing fee directly by the courier when your goods enter Europe, but you will be able to claim the sales tax back if you have provided us with the correct information.
Before placing any orders, please contact us at email@example.com so we can register you on the website as a tax registered customer and take you through the ordering process. You must also provide us with a valid TVA number (or equivalent) at this stage. It is important to note that it is not possible to reclaim sales tax on orders that were placed without going through this process and we are unable to refund sales tax for you.
If a business of any size or type operates at your given shipping address, we must provide the courier with a valid EORI number, or the order sadly cannot be shipped. For full information on EORI numbers and how to obtain one, please visit your government’s website. Failure to provide a valid EORI number where required may impact your level of refund if the order is cancelled.
Prohibited items (correct as of Jan. 2022)
There are a few EU nations that prohibit the import of a select few of our products and below is the most up to date list we can provide of these. Please note, we are regularly informed of changes to this list without prior notice and goods being disputed by the courier do not feature on the list.

We are currently unable to ship goods totalling below this to Belgium, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Croatia, Czech. Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
If your order is affected by any of the above, we shall contact you via email. Once again, thank you for your continued support through this period of disruption and uncertainty for everyone. We are delighted to be able to re-open for orders to Europe and though these changes are not great for anyone, we are pleased that we have been able to minimise the cost and time implications and are able to offer ongoing support to our European customers. If you would like any further information or if you are a business wanting to place an order excluding sales tax, do not hesitate to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
