Easter Candle Basket Recipe
Instead of gifting chocolates this Easter, why not do something more heart-felt and create a fun Easter basket? Whether you make it alone or involve the family, this is the gift that lasts longer than chocolate…
- 800g of either Kerawax 4105 or Kerasoy 4130
- 3g of 10/937 Yellow Dye
- 3g of 60/1127 Lilac Dye
- 3g of 52/5561 Light Blue Dye
- 3g of 72/7427 Light Green Dye
- 50ML bottle of a Fragrance Oil of your choice (Optional)
- 4 TCR 27/16 Wick
- 4 Glue Dots
- 4 20CL Karen Round
- (optional extra Silver Lid for the 20CL Karen Round)
- Chocolates are optional
Place 200g of the wax into the burner to melt (we use our Bain Marie), keeping an eye on the temperature and so it doesn't exceed 70°C. You are only melting ¼ at a time as you will be adding colour to each.
Preparing your containers; use the glue dots to hold the sustainer of the wick in place, making sure you stick this in a central location in the glass. Use the Wick holder to keep the wick upright and central throughout the whole process.
Once the wax has melted completely, add approximately 2g of dye and stir gently until it melts and blends evenly throughout the wax. Cool the wax and add the fragrance oil of your choice at a temperature below the Flash Point for the fragrance. Cool the wax again to around 55-60°C, transfer the wax to your pourer and fill the prepared container to approximately 1cm from the top.
Thoroughly clean both the container and the burner then place in another 200g of wax to melt, repeating steps 1 and 3 again for your second, third and last colour. If you are using different fragrance oils for each colour be aware of the correct Flash Points for the scents.
Leave the candles to one side and allow them to cool for a minimum of 24 hours before cutting down the wick and lighting. Why not gift these candles as part of an Easter Basket complete with chocolate goodies and any other treats?
