With Christmas just round the corner, our easy step-by-step video created in partnership with Cosy & Country walks you through the process of making your own festive tea light candles at home.

Ingredients

Step 1 – Measure & Melt Your Wax

First, you need to measure your wax. We have measured out 200g of container wax to fill 10 tea light candles. Once measured, it’s time to melt your wax. Put your wax onto a medium heat until it has melted all the way through.

Step 2 – Prepare Your Containers

Stick your glue dots to the bottom of your wicks and place the wicks into the centre of your containers. The centre is marked up in the containers so you can see clearly where they need to go.

Once you have stuck the wicks into all your containers, its time to add your wick centering tools to hold the wicks in place.

Step 3 – Add Your Dye

Once your wax has melted all the way through, let it cool to 65°C before you start to add your dye. We used half of the 3g bag of red dye, as we are using a smaller amount of wax then we would when making larger candles. Gently stir your dye into your wax until is has evenly blended.

Step 4 – Add Your Fragrance Oil

When your dye has melted completely you can add your fragrance oil, we have chosen the festive Red Berry & Holly. We have added 10ml of the fragrance oil which will be a good distribution for the 200g of wax. Gently stir the fragrance oil thoroughly through the wax.

Step 5 – Pour The Wax

Once your wax has cooled to between 50°C – 60°C you can carefully pour your wax into the containers. Once poured, leave them overnight to set for 24 hours.

Step 6 – Trim The Wicks

Once your candles have set, you can take off your wick centering tools and trim the wicks. We recommend trimming the wicks to around 5mm.

Step 7 – Enjoy!

Now you can enjoy your festive tea light candles!
